New Mission Hearty Grains

The USDA finally made a ruling on the National School Lunch Program; the ruling states that half of the meals served to students in grades K-12 must be 52% whole grain rich to meet the requirements to be reimbursed. Mission Foods has four NEW products that meet this criteria. They are 55% whole grain with lower sodium and saturated fat than their traditional whole wheat tortillas. They are made with 100% white whole wheat to make them appear lighter in color than the traditional whole wheat products making it more appealing to kids. These products are a blend of 55% whole grain and 45% enriched white wheat flour, making them more pliable and easy to roll without cracking around the edges.  These products will be available in 6”, 8”, 10”, and 12” diameter.

The new Mission Hearty Grains were developed to meet the School Lunch Program; however, these products are also a good alternative for anyone looking for a healthier tortilla including college & university, healthcare, and the military channels.
